04 / Samba Street Canteen

Come for the game.
Stay for the story.

The same idea. A new place to meet.

We are starting simply: cold non-alcoholic drinks, packaged snacks and Samba jerseys. A match-night meeting point in West Perth, built with care for the people around the game.

From kitchen hand to building a place to belong

Finding my place.
Building a place to belong.

I arrived in Perth from Brazil at eighteen, carrying ambition without knowing exactly where it would take me. My hospitality journey began as a kitchen hand. Over the following years, I progressed to Chef de Partie, working across Perth's restaurant and hotel kitchens while studying cookery and hospitality management.

The kitchens changed. One lesson stayed with me: a memorable experience is never made by one person alone. It takes preparation, trust and people looking after each other. Football gave me another kind of belonging: places to turn up, people to see again, friendships that made Perth feel more like home.

Samba Street Canteen brings those parts of my life together. My experience as a chef and continuing studies in Tourism and Hospitality Management will shape how we build it: thoughtfully, practically and with care. I came to Perth looking for opportunities. Now I want to help create a place where more connections can begin.

A moment from my hospitality journey

An opportunity.
A lasting gratitude.

I had the opportunity to be part of the team cooking for Australia's Prime Minister and his partner during a visit to Perth. It is a moment I will always be grateful for.

From my first days as a kitchen hand to being trusted with an occasion like this, every step was built through learning, hard work and people willing to give me a chance. I carry this memory with pride and gratitude for the opportunity and everyone who helped me grow.

That same care now shapes Samba Street Canteen. Whatever the occasion, I want people to feel welcomed, looked after and glad they came.
